A new way to shop this Friday

Will you be joining the masses this Thursday night? Rushing through Target for the hottest toys or battling the crowds for Walmart’s top electronics? After you’re done pushing, shoving, and possibly (but hopefully not) gettinI sprayed with mace in your quest for great gifts, swing by Downtown Bangor.

The downtown will be celebrating the holidays with “Plaid Friday,” a calmer, family friendly version of Black Friday. So, put on your plaid and come enjoy 10-25 off from your favorite local shops. Many shops are participating including Valentine Footwear, Blue Heron, Mexicali Blues, Metropolitan Soul, The Rock and Art Shop, Epic Sports, Central Street Farm House, Briar Patch, and Maine Jewelry and Art.

After snagging gifts for everyone on your list stop by Giacomo’s or Antique Marketplace and get a free cup of coffee with your “Plaid Friday” shopping receipt.

“This laid back shopping experience fits well with how distinctive Downtown Bangor is” says Jason Bird, Downtown Coordinator.  “The businesses in Downtown offer unique gifts and a relaxed atmosphere that the whole family can enjoy.  Shopping elsewhere can be stressful.  Instead, come Downtown, do some shopping, have lunch and enjoy the day.  There won’t be any pushing or shoving. ”
